It’s no secret that I love my work in the VMUG space.

VMUGs are a vital part of the IT community. They empower people to get to the answers they want, and enable like minded individuals to truly share their knowledge in an informal setting. I often find I learn much more from the events about how things “really” work than I ever do with the sales presentations or courses.

I must give a nod to the Vendors who take the time to get involved. They really are putting themselves in the firing line when they present. It is an open forum, anything and everything does get asked! However, I find they always rise to the challenge and some great partnerships have been created by those informal vBeers chats.

It’s also a pleasure to welcome @saintdle and @fishadr who I believe are first time VMUG Community presenters. I hope they find it enjoyable albeit maybe nerve wracking.

The agenda looks great covering all aspects of an EUC deployment, and I have to say, the chance to win and IPAD Air or K2 is not to be sniffed at.

OK I admit I am a little late to the party with this post but I feel it’s important none the less.

The Cloud Volumes acquisition  was well talked about during  the VMWorld 2014 keynote with a live demo also presented.

I was lucky enough to attend a deep dive session on App Volumes (the rename was announced during the session) and the solution did look rather impressive and certainly is telling about how VMware see the future of Application Delivery for desktops.

I appreciate there are other products that provide a similar solution and I am currently looking into each one as part of my role.

One advantage VMware will have is they can integrate it into the existing Horizon licensing model and it will be interesting to see where they pitch it when its announced.
